Unboxing A whole year of new Yankee Candles!

Just recently I saw that Yankee Candles were having a January sale where you can purchase six of the larger candles for $60 online and shipping was $5 dollars! I happen to really enjoy good smellin' candles so I was all too happy to discover said sale!

Although I have been gifted their candles, and browsed their location in the mall - I have never ordered from them before and I was seriously excited! I chose the largest sizes available for the scents I wanted.  Candle scents for each season was my aim. A whole year of candle joy!

They arrived on my porch in two boxes on a chilly morning. We opened the box and discovered that they had been well packaged for their journey to us. It was kinda fun taking the cold candles out of the boxes. Each arrived in perfect and great smelling condition.

I received a yummy smelling candle for Christmas and have been enjoying it very much. The Vanilla Frosting scented candle we have already been using is almost gone so these came at just the right time. The new candle we chose to enjoy now is Season of Peace.

Wow, Season of Peace smells really good! It is a pleasant clean relaxing sort of scent. Familiar yet I cannot place it.  I wish they would keep it year round because its a keeper!

Good times - good smelling times that is!

A season of scarves

Early in October I began plotting to begin some seasonal yarn projects. I headed out and browsed several local stores in search of fantastic fibre. We don't have a yarn specialty shop in our area and most stores have very little selection. I am kinda picky about yarn and the best availability in our area is found in JoAnns store. So that is where most of my yarn comes from and all in this post certainly did.

Right after Halloween I began crocheting scarves for my family members. I had each individual choose a color and off I went. Three in blue, one green, and one in black and red. I chose the waffle stitch for fluffy warmth as these will be used as every day winter scarves. (Except for the red one - had to be creative there! That one is a single crochet with large popcorn stitches mixed in.)

As for details, I used a Boyd K 6.5 mm hook for all of these scarves. Find the black and red yarn here. The two blue and brown ombre yarn here. Find the straight blues and green here - specifically "herb garden, lagoon, and colonial". (For the record again,  I bought these myself from browsing in the store.)

You know how when you begin a crochet project you have a basic chain - then when you are done the two ends don't really match up? Beginning with a foundation stitch fixes that problem! I found a great tutorial that demonstrates this with the waffle stitch I mentioned above!

Each scarf  was made unique to the intended wearer. The length is finger tip to finger tip with arms spread wide. The width is chin to collar bone unless the wearer asked for something else. One was made double wide. Some wanted fringe and some did not.

Each scarf is well loved by its wearer and I feel great seeing how much they enjoy them and how warm they have stayed throughout the winter!
